SUMMARY:Cherry Blossom Festival Map Adventure 2026
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Buffalo Cherry Blossom Festival as we present a Trivia-O called the Mirror Lake Map Adventure. The activity is free with the intent of introducing newcomers to the joys of navigating with a map. \nParticipants will use a custom-made map to navigate the grounds of the History Museum\, the Japanese Garden\, and the environs of Mirror Lake as they answer questions about locations on the map. \nOur table and tent will be located just to the left of the Lincoln statue on the SE side of the History Museum.

SUMMARY:2024 Cherry Blossom Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday\, April 27 for this casual and fun celebration of spring in conjunction with the Buffalo Cherry Blossom Festival. This event is designed for all experience levels and for walkers\, runners\, and family groups. \nUse the map (which we provide) to navigate a 3.7 kilometer (2.3 mile) course which traverses the Hoyt and Mirror Lake parts of Delaware Park. The course features easy to locate checkpoints. Alternately\, select a “Score-O” version in which you choose which points you want to visit. The time limit for the Point to Point course is 90 minutes and the time limit for the Score-O is 60 minutes. \nOnline pre-registration is strongly encouraged and is the only way to guarantee we will have a map for you. (We will also print a few maps for “day-of” registrations.) The registration deadline is Thursday\, April 25 at 11:00 PM. Everyone who attends must be registered\, sign the waiver and pay the appropriate fee. The fee to participate is $5 for members of any orienteering club or $10 for non-members. Juniors (20 and under) who are part of a BFLO family membership\, participate for free\, otherwise $5. Children (11 and under) participate for free but must be registered by their parent. (Your age is considered to be the age you will be on December 31 this year.) \nCheck-in on April 27 is from 11:00-11:30 AM. The check-in will be located on the northeast portico lawn next to the Buffalo History Museum on the lake side of the building. The start will be located nearby. Participants may start at any time after checking in up until 12 Noon. Both courses feature easy to find checkpoints. The time limit will be 2 hours. \nOnline pre-registration is required. There will be no registration on site. To register\, go here.  The registration deadline is Thursday\, April 28 at 11:59 PM. \nAll individuals and groups are welcome. The fee to participate is $5 for members of any orienteering club or $10 for non-members. Juniors\, born 2002-2010\, pay $5. Participants over the age of 11 pay the appropriate entry fee and receive a map. \nCheck-in on May 1 starts at 11:00 AM. Participants may start at any time after checking in up until 12 Noon. DESCRIPTION:A fun orienteering event celebrating spring in one of Buffalo’s renowned Olmsted parks.  A choice of three courses around Delaware Park including the History Museum\, Hoyt Lake\, Marcy Casino\, Rose Garden\, Rumsey Woods\, Mirror Lake and the Japanese Garden. All courses are easy in terms of difficulty. The only difference is the length: Easy Short is 2.6 km. Easy Medium is 3.1 km\, Easy Long is 4.4 km. \nRegister and start at 11:00 am near the Buffalo History Museum on Nottingham Terrace near Elmwood Avenue. Registration closes at 12:00 pm with no additional starts after 12:30 pm.  Designed for any experience level\, walkers or runners.
