SUMMARY:CANCELLED: Ellicottville Adventure Run 3 and 6 Hours
DESCRIPTION:The Ellicottville Adventure Run for 2020 has been cancelled.  \nIn Orienteering parlance\, this is a Score-O / Mini-Rogaine lasting your choice of a 3-hour or 6-hour time limit. In everyday language\, this is an opportunity to run or hike using a map to find numerous “flag” controls placed over a large area. Locate however many you desire in any order within your pre-chosen time limit. \nOur event headquarters is at the CCC Camp Seneca on Hungry Hollow Road on the back side of McCarty Hill.  From the village of Ellicottville take Route 219 South about 7.7 miles before turning right onto Hungry Hollow Road.  Continue until the asphalt changes to gravel\, then look for the club’s signs to the camp.  Here’s a link to the location on Google Maps. The GPS coordinates are 42.2243817\, -78.7025548. \nStarting time for the 6-hour event is 11am and the 3-hour is 1pm. Please note that maps will be handed out at 10:00am and 12:30pm\, respectively\, so that participants can strategize. Questions? Email the Meet Director: Greg Hyatt\, or call him at 716-480-1713. \nTo guarantee yourself a map\, register online. See who’s competing here. Online Registration is highly recommended as the availability of maps for day of event registrants will be limited. Find more information here.

The start and finish points for the courses are unmarked in the park\, but are located on the maps near Shelter 12. \nControls are flagged\, but the flags in spots are close to the ground or situated to avoid easy detection from a trail or road. The woods are fairly open\, although there are thorns in some sections and after rains some areas become wet and muddy. \nThe courses can be completed in order as marked on the maps or\, if wanted\, feel free to search for controls in any order. Have fun and be safe. \nIn light of the coronavirus pandemic\, please follow all health guidelines regarding safety and social distancing while enjoying this outdoor activity. It’s a good idea to carry water\, an emergency whistle\, and a cell phone. Make sure others know your plan for the day. Don’t take unnecessary risks. It’s a good idea to leave a copy of the map in your car or with a friend or relative if a search is necessary. \nThere is no cost for this event. If you enjoy orienteering you might want to consider becoming a member of the Buffalo Orienteering Club.  If you’d like to contribute to the cost of putting on the event a suggested donation of $5.00 can be accepted via paypal at the email treasurer@buffalo-orienteering.org.

SUMMARY:Ellicottville Adventure Run 3 and 6 Hours
DESCRIPTION:In Orienteering parlance\, this is a Score-O / Mini-Rogaine lasting your choice of a 3-hour or 6-hour time limit. In everyday language\, this is an opportunity to run or hike using a map to find numerous “flag” controls placed over a large area. Locate however many you desire in any order within your pre-chosen time limit. It’s a great format for both hard-core competition and casual family hiking. Questions? Email the Meet Director: Linc Blaisdell\, or call him at (716) 479-9431. \nTo guarantee yourself a map\, register online. See who’s competing here. Online Registration is highly recommended as the availability of maps for day of event registrants will be limited. Find more information here.
