SUMMARY:Cazenovia Park Winter-O 2026
DESCRIPTION:Event Format:  Score-O lasting 90 minutes (1.5 hours).  Numerous controls are placed over a large area.  Use skis\, snowshoes\, boots\, or shoes to locate as many as you desire in any order within the time limit.  It is a great format for hard-core competitors who might finish in less than 90 minutes and for casual hikers who will enjoy the extra time. \nLocation:  Cazenovia Park in Buffalo; check-in location is the Tosh Collins Community Center within the park\, near the corner of Cazenovia Street and Abbott Road. \nTime:  Check-in starting at 11:15 AM; course start by noon.  Participants must complete the course by 1:30 PM. \nCourse:  Single Score-O format course with 16 controls.  Map scale is 1:5\,000 and in 5 colors.  Note that there is a significant penalty if the course is not completed within 90 minutes. \nCost:  This event is free\, but participants must register and have a waiver on file. \nDonations:  We will be collecting canned goods and other personal items for the community center’s food pantry.  You can view a list of items for which there is particular need. \nRegistration:  Pre-registration is strongly encouraged and will guarantee participation.  Register here; the pre-registration deadline is Thursday\, February 19 at 11:00 PM.  Limited on-site registration will be offered\, but availability cannot be guaranteed. \n(Note: Each member of a group\, including children 11 years and younger\, must be registered and have a completed waiver. We recommend that a group leader complete the registration for all group members.  Contact the event director if your group is larger than 4 people.) \nInclement Weather:  While winter weather is expected\, in the case of a storm resulting in driving restrictions or extreme cold\, the event will be cancelled and the meet director will notify registered participants via the e-mail address provided; anyone not registered should check the club’s Facebook page for updates. \nEquipment:  You do not need special equipment to participate; regular winter clothes and boots are fine.  However\, if you would like to try snowshoes or skis\, such equipment can be rented from several places around WNY\, including the Gear for Adventure stores in Hamburg and Amherst. \nMembership:  Interested in becoming a member?  You can do so on our membership page.

SUMMARY:Chestnut Ridge Solo Event
DESCRIPTION:2026 Chestnut Ridge Park – Solo Orienteering Event for club members only \nLong and short courses available for solo orienteering from Friday\, Noon\, April 10\, 2026 through Sunday\, April 26\, 2026. \nPrint out course MAPS and complete anytime during the days that orienteering flags will be up in the park. (Map link will be active April 9 after 9 pm) \nCourse notes:\nPark vehicles just south of the Park Road overpass on the west side of Chestnut Ridge Road. The start and finish points for the courses are on a white tag at the end of the fence at the NE end of the small parking area. \nControls are flagged\, but the flags spots are close to the ground or situated to avoid easy detection from a trail or road. The woods are fairly open\, but there are plenty of tree blow-down in some areas. \nThe courses can be completed in order as marked on the maps or\, if wanted\, feel free to search for controls in any order. Have fun and be safe. \nIt’s a good idea to bring water to the park and a cell phone. Make sure others know your plan for the day\, and don’t take unnecessary risks. \nMap
